Materials

Wood is literally at the core of Andersen windows and doors. It’s durable, stable and an excellent insulator. Andersen relies on wood as an important renewable material and has established a program of supporting and evaluating forest management to help protect the long-term viability of supplies

FIBREX ® Material, used increasingly in the manufacture of Andersen products, is a highly sustainable composite material. This patented blend of reclaimed pine wood fibre and a specially formulated thermoplastic polymer provides an efficient use of wood reclaimed directly from Andersen’s manufacturing processes. This revolutionary new material delivers strength, rigidity and thermal performance equal to wood, a stability superior to wood and even has the appearance of wood. It is also resistant to flaking, blistering, peeling, cracking and corrosion. There is no need for painting or regular maintenance.

The Perma-Shield ® System of exterior cladding provides the benefits of excellent water resistance and structural integrity, and helps ensure the superb performance of Andersen products over many years. The Perma-Shield system adds to the longevity of the products and, in the long run, saves resources by eliminating the need to paint.

High Performance Low E4 Glass provides optimum insulation from heat, cold and sound. The highly efficient Low E coating, combined with Argon-filled cavity and Low-conductivity spacer bar provides performance that is 35% more energy-efficient in winter and 41% more efficient in summer than standard dual-pane glass. The exterior surface has an invisible titanium oxide coating that provides a low maintenance (self-cleaning) finish and also dries faster leaving 99% fewer water spots.
